Blueberry Muffin at Hello Cafe in Campbell, enjoyed with our far-flung friends, Jan and David, visiting from the most southern part of Australia.

It's silly but fun: turning up to cafes with candles and matches. But we do know how to behave, no raucous singing.

An impromptu and very welcome family celebration: Maria and Steve.

To kick off the next half of the 50 cakes, Paul was thrilled with the ornament and poem which arrived in the post from our dear friends from USA, Jan and Brian. A cake that lasts forever.

On 26 April we skyped (via iPhone) for the official candle blowing.

Cake 24

16 January 2011

Brunch with our friends LynnAnne and Boyd at one of their favourite local cafes. Once we finished our eggs and bacon, we moved to the main event. LynnAnne brought a delicious Tea Ring she made from her favourite recipe book "Secrets of a Jewish Baker".

Very very nice! We are enjoying the leftovers. It's delicious with cold yoghurt on a hot afternoon.
Yummmmm ...

Cake 23

15 January, 2011 - a joint celebration

A triumph - so many family members in one group: Ann, Jim, Alex, Ian, Olivia, Emily, Georgia, Jenn, Lachlan, William, Narelle, Dorothy and Bethany.

The first and third photo are of the cake I made for the occasion and transported to Sydney: Damp Apple and Almond Cake. An experiment, never made this before, it's a Nigella Lawson recipe from her book "Feast". Delicious.

The second photo below is of one of the biscuits/cakes which Narelle made. She has also recently celebrated an important birthday, so it was with much joy for us (and the paparazzi...so many cameras!) that she and Paul blew out candles their candles together.

As we usually say at this point.....yummmm.
